Jason Stelzner I laughed at the last paragraph. The NoSQL craze was a comedy show, at least for the better part of the first two years. Sure now we get some nice features and good stable solutions, but initially it was a blast.

Yes to this too. The marketing hoopla about AI SAI GAI NAI — why? This whole hose of meaningless speculation IS the cause of the syncopathic history of the AI field of knowledge.
