Hey, first, I love your tag line :D

The right expectations are just like Mike McDerment said about Fresh Books, something like “we launched Fresh Books and no one cared”.

No one cares. I firmly believe cancer is solved, quantum mysteries have answers and many other such things pass by while no one cares. That’s what you should expect.

But I don’t mean it in a mean way or in a fatalist manner. Because a better perspective would be that “caring” is energy hungry, attention hungry, time hungry and most often very, very boring.

That’s the thing. Put out your work and don’t worry about feedback, stats, views or followers. Don’t worry, but do fight for more of each. In any way you can. Just don’t worry.

“Or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubble gum.”

And, man, don’t let your enthusiasm be cut by no one’s whining, but yours alone. And when you whine, only do it so you can be enthusiastic again.

People here like: advice in numbered lists, life stories, good poetry, technology articles, any kind of how to’s, liberal politics, provocative conservatives, whining about tech, predictions about tech, tech and politics opinion, anything on programming computers and anything coming from high profile authors, which is normal, it’s the Internet.

Try to publish in publications. Your profile is useless on Medium, so are your followers. The followers of publications somehow get notified better and, if you write tech stuff, your audience still has RSS feed readers.

Oh, and here is something for “a fellow human being looking to start out?”:

Yours, me :)

I write so you feel like you’ve just had an idea. It’s a nice feeling.
